What is vascular disease?

Vascular disease is an abnormal condition of the blood vessels, affecting nearly one out of two people in their lifetime, and can occur if your blood flow changes, becomes blocked or abruptly stops.

Vascular disease typically affects older individuals or those that:

  • Have a family history of heart disease
  • Have a history of smoking
  • Are obese
  • Have high cholesterol
  • Have high blood pressure

Early detection of vascular disease is key

Identifying vascular disease in the early stages is key to improving long-term outcomes. The vascular laboratory provides advanced diagnostic tests seven days a week and is staffed by board-certified vascular surgeons and registered vascular technologists.
