Nursing Student Opportunities in Huntley, Woodstock and McHenry

Northwestern Medicine provides numerous opportunities for nursing students in the northwest suburbs to be part of a knowledgeable and caring team of healthcare professionals who are committed to providing exceptional patient care. Opportunities are available at:

• Northwestern Medicine Woodstock Hospital

We currently have affiliations with local schools of nursing for clinical rotations and clinical role transition experiences. We also offer a student nurse internship, which is a competitive summer experience open to full-time nursing students.

Student Nurse Internship Program

The Student Nurse Internship (SNI) Program in the northwest suburbs is an intensive, eight-week summer program during which student nurses partner with a nurse preceptor to develop critical-thinking skills, hone technical skills and learn how to prioritize care.

Candidates must be able to commit to an eight-week summer program. At the end of the eight-week program, nurse interns will receive a formal evaluation and may have the option to apply for open positions within the healthcare system.

Schedules

Student nurse interns will work the day or night shift in 12-hour shifts. They typically work every other weekend, and they do not work holidays. No overtime will be scheduled for or expected of nurse interns.

Eligibility

To be eligible, you must:

• Be enrolled full time in an accredited baccalaureate nursing program
• Be entering your final year of your BSN program with licensure expected by July of the following year
• Have a valid CPR card
