5.0 star star star star starHe discusses with you and not just talk at you. What impress me is he reached out to shake my hand at the end of my pre-surgery visit...as to say we're in this process together. This helped me to have confidence in his ability to provide me a successful surgery.

5.0 star star star star starHe seems so informed when he sees you. He is very good at explaining exactly what is happening, what to expect and is not at all intimidating leaving the patient to be able to ask questions. He is very kind and helps the patient know exactly what to expect. I came in as an older patient with a fracture and felt as though he took my medical history into consideration and made me feel as though he had my best interest in my treatment. Very pleased.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Smyth is the best! He's so friendly and down to earth. He keeps me informed about my care, and doesn't jump right into surgery without trying preventative methods. I just moved to the Elgin area 2 years ago and I've enjoyed my visits with Dr. Smyth and his staff. My mother has also become a patient of Dr. Smyth. We really appreciate him and his entire staff! Thank you!

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
