Treatments for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) 

At the Lois Insolia ALS Clinic at the Les Turner ALS Center at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, we offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary care to address the many symptoms of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and offer Edaravone and Tiglutik —two FDA-approved ALS treatment options.

Our multidisciplinary team will help make you as comfortable as possible through a comprehensive approach to care that includes both medical treatment, wellness and patient and family support.

There are several treatment options for managing ALS symptoms. These include:

• Drugs to help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
• Physical and occupational therapy, which may help slow muscle weakness and atrophy, as well as prevent immobility in joints.
• Use of a ventilator or devices to improve breathing function, which becomes necessary as chest muscles eventually weaken

We also offer access to some of the leading ALS clinical trials in the country.

Members of your care team may include neurologists, pulmonologists, dieticians, genetic counselors, speech pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, wheelchair representatives, nurses and social workers to address the full range of ALS symptoms.
