- Endovascular embolization. Using a catheter inserted into an artery in your groin or wrist, a neurointerventionalist can reach the head and neck AVM under x-ray guidance and deploy tiny detachable coils or liquid agents to help block the blood flow within the vascular malformation.
- Sclerotherapy is a form of treatment where a physician injects medicine into blood vessels or lymph vessels that causes them to shrink. Used to treat blood and lymph vessel disorders, sclerotherapy can also be used to treat varicose veins. The procedure is minimally invasive, requiring only an injection.
