Symptoms of Pancreatitis
Pancreatitis symptoms will vary, depending on the patient and whether the condition is acute or chronic. Symptoms may include:
- Severe belly pain, especially after you eat
- Pain radiating to the back or chest
- Nausea and vomiting
- Swelling and tenderness in the upper belly (caused by fluid buildup)
- Fever
- Rapid heart rate
- Lower blood pressure than usual
- Jaundice (yellow tint to the skin and eyes)
Complications of pancreatitis can include:
- Chronic pain
- Diarrhea
- Weight loss
- Vitamin deficiency
- Pseudocyst (collection of fluid) around the pancreas
- Diabetes
- Pancreatic cancer
