If the results of your biopsy indicate that your breast abnormality is atypical, this means that the findings are not normal, but also not cancer.

Here are common atypical abnormalities of the breast:

• Atypical Hyperplasia. This is abnormal cell growth within the ducts or lobules of your breasts that is noncancerous.

Your physician may run separate tests to help identify the type of atypical abnormality you have, and to help determine treatment and prevention options.
