When to See Your Physician
Your breasts change with your menstrual cycle and pregnancy due to a fluctuation of hormones. It is common to experience swelling, tenderness and changes in the way your breasts feel during your menstrual cycle, and during and after pregnancy.
You know your breasts best. You should be aware of what is normal for you monthly so that you can discuss any changes with your physician.
Consult your physician if:
- You have breast pain that doesn’t go away, including after your menstrual cycle.
- You have breast pain that is interfering with your daily tasks.
- You have abnormal nipple discharge.
- You feel a new lump in one of your breasts.
- Your breast skin appears different, including puckered, crusty or dimply.
- You have tenderness in your armpits.
