Application FAQs

Thank you for your interest in residency training at the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Training Program at Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital.

There are six PGY-2 advanced positions available starting July 1, 2026.

The Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Training Program participates in the National Residency Matching Program® and strictly adheres to the Match® rules. Residents are matched at the PGY2 level through the NRMP.

We review all applications holistically beyond purely academics, taking into consideration each student's extracurricular activities, such as research, community engagement, volunteerism, leadership positions and life experiences before medical school.

Please note that this program does not sponsor J-1 Visas.

Please submit your application via the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS)®

Submit your ERAS application when the ERAS season opens in September 2024 . The submission deadline for Northwestern Medicine Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital's program is October 1.

Applicants are responsible for obtaining PGY1 positions, per requirements from the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. This program does not offer PGY1 positions.

You must submit the following documents along with a completed MyERAS application to be considered:

  • CV
  • Medical student performance evaluation
  • Three current letters of recommendation
    • One letter must be from a physiatrist
  • Personal statement
    • Please include a paragraph about why the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Training Program at Marianjoy is a good fit.
  • Medical school transcripts
  • USMLE or COMLEX-USA transcripts, as applicable
  • ECFMG certification status report (international medical graduates only)

Final status on applications will be released no later than October 28.

All interviews will be virtual during the 2024 to 2025 interview season. In-person second look visits will not be offered.

Interview offers will be released on October 28. If you receive an interview offer, please schedule or decline it within 48 hours.
