How to Ask for a Prescription Refill

  • Start with your pharmacy. If you have refills on file, your pharmacy will be able to electronically request a refill from your clinician.
  • Contact your care team via MyNM. If the pharmacist tells you to ask your care team for a refill:
    • Log in to MyNM.
    • Click or tap “Messages.”
    • Choose “Refill a medication.”
  • Your care team will get your message. Allow up to 2 business days for the team to approve or reply to your refill request. Be sure to request refills ahead of time so that you do not run out of your medication.
  • Call your clinician. If you have an urgent issue or a clarifying question, call the office.

About Prior Authorization for Medications

Your pharmacy insurance company may ask your care team for more information, such as your diagnosis or medical history, before they will cover your medication.

To help avoid delays:

  • Make sure your insurance information in MyNM is always up to date.
  • Call your pharmacy insurance company to confirm that they will cover your medication. If they will not, they can talk to you about other medication options that are covered. Then, be sure to share that information with your care team.

Contact your care team if you need help or have questions about this process.
