Services
With a strong foundation in emergency medicine, our Wood-Prince Family Stroke Center takes advantage of the outstanding resources* that have already been in place at Lake Forest Hospital for years:
- Emergency Medical Services (EMS)
- Emergency Room physicians and staff
- Radiologic support from Diagnostic Imaging
- Neurologists and neurosurgeons
- Critical care teams
The Stroke Center unites these medical personnel with a coordinated, team approach—so that you or a family member receive the best, most appropriate and most efficient care in the event of a stroke.
Why Choose Us
Importance of a Certified Primary Stroke Center
Illinois legislation has established a special set of requirements for hospitals, which are intended to save more stroke patients’ lives and lessen the need for institutional care. The law means that ambulances must travel to a hospital with a stroke-certified emergency room, even if it’s much farther away.
Thanks to a generous endowment gift from the Frederick Henry Prince Memorial Fund, Lake Forest Hospital established the Wood-Prince Family Stroke Center—which received accreditation from The Joint Commission in July 2010 as a Certified Primary Stroke Center. This center enables us to enhance our existing stroke care and advance the emergency care we provide to residents of Lake County.
In the spirit of keeping you well-informed, some of the physician(s) and/or individual(s) identified are neither agents nor employees of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare or any of its affiliate organizations. They have selected our facilities as places where they want to treat and care for their private patients.
