Services
Assuring high-quality education for patient self-care is one of the primary goals of the Diabetes Education Program. Through the support of the health care team and increased knowledge of awareness of diabetes, the patient can assume a major part of the responsibility for his/her diabetes management.
Education is offered for Type 1 or 2 Diabetes, Gestational Diabetes and Pre-diabetes on an individual basis or in a group setting. Topics covered include:
- Diabetes overview and standards of care
- Nutrition strategies for blood sugar control
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Continuous glucose monitoring
- Medications
- Insulin pump starts and training
- Managing high/low blood sugars
- Preventing complications
- Heart health
- Physical activity, stress management
