5.0 star star star star starI am extremely likely to recommend Dawn E. Epstein, PhD for care because she really does, CARE! With years of education, training and practical experience Dawn is a highly acclaimed therapist who provides a safe space where she introduces a new concept for most people, Gastrointestinal Behavioral Health Psychology. Through Dawn’s guidance she teaches Gut-directed Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Hypnotherapy evidence-based treatments that focus on helping patients learn skills related to managing and reducing their abdominal pain or altered bowel habits.Though her outstanding teaching skills, in addition to providing new tools to help curb old habits and teach new procedures that improve elimination, she always includes some memory refreshers to keep you focused on the skills both she and the other NM Gastroenterology team members have taught you. Dawn has also successfully taught me how to control and eliminate my emotional or stress eating disorder. With 77 years of bad habits and gastrointestinal problems, although I’m not totally cured, I am a work in progress and have achieved significant improvements with Dawn Epstein’s guidance. Dawn’s referral and introduction to a great Registered Dietician Nutritionist, Bethany [last name], MS, RDN, has also helped to complete my gastrointestinal improvement. Not only do I rate Dawn Epstein a 10, she is without a doubt, my MVT / Most Valuable Therapist!

5.0 star star star star starI would recommend Dr. Epstein for the reasons I mentioned previously. Also, she shows that she is in this field to help people and make a difference in their lives. To be able to live a life healthy mentally when making decisions and how I was able to see myself. Reinforcing that is ok to not be ok, but there are ways to help me to feel better. Being able to discuss the different ways to help me to be progressive, and to trust the process. I was able to see progress and not to be discouraged when my health issues would cause me to have a set back.

5.0 star star star star starI felt her presentation had the perfect balance between real medical terminology explained in a way that I could understand. I do wish she would ask everyone to turn off their cameras during her lecture. It was very distracting to have people moving around.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
