5.0 star star star star starThorough & timely. Gave detailed explanations, asked for questions several times, asked for our thoughts and feedback on his proposed care plan, involved us in the decision making for tests. Friendly & approachable. We did not feel rushed.

5.0 star star star star starAs explained above, Dr Afana did an Outstanding job of saving my life after I had a heart attack on December [ ] and was taken to Northwestern Medicine Palos Hospital. My March [ ] visit was my first with him. He did an Outstanding job of researching my medical history before the visit, examining me, communicating with me and my daughter, who is a doctor of internal medicines. I am fortunate that Dr Afana has accepted me as a patient and is expertly directing my medical care and recovery from my heart attack.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Afana immediately took charge of the entire process & executed the procedure (inserting a stent to a blocked artery with alacrity & precision. In a follow up appointment, he took the time to review the procedure & reinforce the importance of adhering to the medication regimen, instituting & maintaining a more heart healthy diet. In addition, his manner was factual yet highly reassuring. He also presented as very caring & compassionate & took the time to answer all of our questions & addressed our concerns! He is someone I sensed that truly cared & was dedicated to helping me through the recovery & rehabilitation process. He invited us to contact him at any time if necessary, which meant a lot to us. I would highly recommend him as a cardiologist to any of our friends or family. In closing, we are tremendously thankful for having him as a our doctor!

4.0 star star star star star_borderSo far Dr. Afana has been great. I like that he is a young man and seems to know what he is doing. He answered all mine and my husband's questions. The previous Dr. from another practice was not helpful at all. Thanks for the new Dr.

I look forward to seeing him because he gets straight to the point and tells us how it is. I feel comfortable asking him questions and being able to be transparent with him, which is an admirable quality to have in a doctor.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
