1)High degree of expertise in his field 2) Thorough examination and diagnosis 3) Very effective treatment plan and follow through (eg orders for therapy, medication,referral for specialist for a condition which he noticed/diagnosed after I discussed a concern 4) Very personable; instills confidence; takes time to exam, explain, discuss issues or concerns which I have, and answer questions I feel very fortunate to be a patient of Dr Onkka. I would not hesitate to refer my family, friends and colleagues to him.

His knowledge, his professionalism and he is very good at explaining everything I need to know. He always has a plan. If one thing doesn’t work let’s go to the next has been his approach and I have a very complicated, complex case so that’s very important to me.

Dr. Onkka is extremely thorough in covering the patient’s medical background and covers all bases in formulating a plan for treatment. I am very happy that I decided to seek care in the Rheumatology Department at Northwestern and would recommend it to family and friends.

Actually I rate Dr. Onkka a 10++. His staff was also great. He came into the room a few minutes early. He had his agenda set and he was extremely courteous. He listened and answered questions; showing interest and deference throughout the conversation. He offered to give me injections for my knees which was not part of the visit initially. He administered them quickly and properly and so well done that I didn’t notice even when he had finished. Dr. Onkka is a credit to Northwestern and a true value to your staff. I will certainly make sure to work with him in the future and would highly recommend him to anyone seeking similar services.
