5.0 star star star star starIt may not be a sound way to make a decision, but my gut told me I was in good hands with Dr Chawla. He also was very personable, considerate and informative. I just wish such a good doctor wasn't so far from me. America needs many more good doctors like Chawla and a lot less politicians and the such.

5.0 star star star star starI am very impressed with Dr. Chawla since our first meeting. He communicates directly and in language I can understand, does not "sugar-coat" information. He makes sure that my family and I understand what the diagnosis is and what he plans to do. Dr. Chawla always welcomed my daughter and son-in-law to join my appointments via phone. He answered their questions and listened to their comments. Additionally, Dr. Chawla met with my daughter daily post-op to apprise her of my condition which I truly appreciated. I am very happy that my post-op course has gone so well..no infections, any pain I had was managed well, I am walking and eating without difficulty and look forward to resuming my normal activities soon. I unhesitatingly recommend Dr. Chawla. He answered

5.0 star star star star starDr. Chaplain, and his staff were able to explain my situation, both what was known and what was most probable with what is not yet known for certain. Explained in terms I understood. Then establishing a program going forward.

5.0 star star star star starIt was delightful to work with Dr. Akhil Chawla during my last appointment. During this time he answered all my questions and examined the incisions I had from my colectomy operation. I felt satisfied with the answers & explanations I received. I believe Dr. Akhil Chawla is a great oncology surgeon.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
