5.0 star star star star starMy visit went exactly as hoped. I was seen right on schedule. Dr. Hecker's assistant was very professional (and friendly). I feel that Dr. Hecker was very thorough and effective in evaluating and explaining my lower back pain. I was pleased that he recommended a non-aggressive, methodical approach to solving the problem. Importantly, he took the time to answer all of my questions, using non-technical terms that even I could understand. I am very pleased with Dr. Hecker and all aspects of today's visit.

5.0 star star star star starDoctor Hecker is the best of the best. I’m a senior citizen now, and feel like an informed consumer of patient services. He’s driven to understand patient issues and to solve them. He teaches as he goes. You can’t do better than Dr. Hecker. He is proof of Northwestern Medicine’s excellence.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Hecker has a way to explain issues and consequences in a thorough manner tailored to the patients background (e.g. if you're an engineer, he'll use engineering scenarios and terms). I value his experience and guidance.

5.0 star star star star starDr.Hecker is the most knowledgeable internal medicine practitioner we have been lucky enough to have as patients. We have been with him since he began at Advocate and are now traveling 60 miles round trip to see him and continue with him as patients. He is a fabulous diagnostician, knows needs and procedures like the alphabet. He is compassionate, witty and wise and the most perfect example of a polymath. NM is lucky to have secured his talents as are his former and new patients..

5.0 star star star star starI like Dr. Hecker, my visit was relaxing, I didn’t feel rushed, which is so important. Dr. Hecker addressed all of my issues and listened to my concerns, really listened. He made many helpful suggestions regarding my arthritis. He’s also open to helping me find medications that will help other health issues.. I hope he stays there.

5.0 star star star star starDr. Hecker is the most intelligent, knowledgeable, internal medicine practitioner I have experienced in my 82 years. He probes until he is confident that I have given an answer he can work with to give a diagnosis; if he is uncertain about meds, he researches immediately in front of me. He is a walking encyclopedia, he doesn't miss a trick and he iexhibits confidence, he is , caring and compassionate and to top that, he has a wonderful manner and sense of humor.

3.0 star star star star_border star_borderThe exam was a bit chaotic. He seemed to be struggling with multiple things in his phone (drug interactions, dictation software). There were things that he told me he was going to talk about, but then got distracted and didn’t. When I followed up after the visit about one of the recommendation not working, i was just told to give it more time and then had challenges all weekend as the on call doctor never called me back.

External Professional Relationships
Pharmaceutical, device, and biotechnology companies frequently collaborate with basic scientists and physicians within an academic medical center to help advance science and improve patient care. These relationships are important in achieving scientific breakthroughs and in establishing the effectiveness and safety of promising new therapies. In order to assure objectivity in clinical research and patient care, the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine (Feinberg), Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, Children's Hospital of Chicago Medical Center, and the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab have adopted integrity policies that require research and clinical faculty (in full-time, part-time, and unpaid/voluntary categories) to report compensated and uncompensated external industry relationships. Patients are encouraged to discuss these disclosures with their physician as well as to inquire as to how these relationships are overseen by Feinberg.
