Pediatric Genitourinary Cancer

Children treated for genitourinary malignancies in childhood, such as Pediatric Rhabdomyosarcoma or Wilms tumor, may have ongoing or new urologic issues in adulthood due to the cancer itself or long-term side effects of treatments (chemotherapy, surgery and/or radiation).

Common complications of these conditions are strictures or obstruction of the urinary tract, bladder dysfunction, blood in the urine, urinary incontinence, kidney complications, fertility issues, and secondary bladder and kidney cancers. A urologist can help manage the symptoms associated with these issues and develop a treatment plan to assist in the prevention of future complications.
