Breathing Machines for Sleep Apnea
Your specialist may recommend a machine to help you breathe as part of your treatment for sleep apnea. Northwestern Medicine Durable Medical Equipment (DME) can help you get the equipment you need.
We offer these types of breathing machines:
- Automatic positive airway pressure (APAP) – most common
- Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP)
- Bilevel positive airway pressure (BiPAP)
- Adaptive servo-ventilation (ASV)
Your specialist prescribes your machine and can refer you to Northwestern Medicine DME.
We will help you find a convenient Northwestern Medicine location for you to pick up your machine.
Our main location is 1118 North Main Street, Algonquin, Illinois.
We will schedule an appointment to set up your equipment. At the appointment, DME staff will:
- Show you how your machine works.
- Fit you properly for a mask.
- Choose the supplies that fit you and your machine.
- Give you instructions on how to order your supplies.
- Explain your rental/purchase* terms.
- Give you an estimate of how much you will pay after your insurance.
- Accept your first payment.
- Save your credit card number for future payments.
*Your rental and purchase terms depend on your insurance plan coverage. Call your insurance company to learn more about your plan benefits and terms.
