Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Treatments
If caught early, thoracic outlet syndrome requires less invasive treatment, including physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medication and pain medication. Lifestyle changes, including weight loss and reduced arm activities, may help.
If other treatments aren’t effective, your physician may recommend surgery to:
- Remove the first rib or an extra rib
- Remove abnormal musculature
- Create more room for blood vessels
If thoracic outlet syndrome goes untreated, it can lead to progressive nerve damage.
