Symptoms of Spinal Stenosis

Some cases of spinal stenosis do not produce any symptoms, while others cause:

  • Pain in neck or back that lessens with bending forward
  • Difficulty walking
  • Numbness, weakness or pain in extremities
  • Foot disorders
  • Pain or a heavy feeling in the legs
  • Reduced sensation to touch, heat or cold

If you experience sudden compression or paralysis that affects sensation and movement, this could be a sign of cauda equina syndrome (CES) and requires emergency treatment. Contact your physician immediately.
