Advanced Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures

Our interventional neuroradiologists perform minimally invasive procedures to treat brain aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVM) and compression fractures of the spine. They collaborate with neurologists and neurosurgeons as part of the diagnostic and treatment team, including the endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms, vascular malformations, carotid and vertebrobasilar stenosis.

In addition, Northwestern Medicine interventional neuroradiologists perform spine interventions, percutaneous and non-vascular procedures including:

  • Treatment of painful lesions of the bony structures.
  • Percutaneous treatment of vertebral compression fractures (vertebroplasty and kyphoplasty).
  • Disk nucleoplasty and IDET (intradiscal electrothermal annuloplasty), a minimally invasive treatment for chronic low back pain.
  • Epidural and selective nerve root injections.

We also provide comprehensive care for cerebrospinal fluid leaks and pulsatile tinnitus.
