Pituitary tumors can cause a range of symptoms. But, some tumors do not cause any symptoms.
Symptoms Due to Extra Hormones
Functional pituitary tumors make excess hormones. The symptoms they cause depend on the specific hormone they make.
Symptoms Due to Increased Pressure
Nonfunctional pituitary tumors do not make hormones. But, they can grow large and press on nerves and other nearby areas. This pressure can lead to:
- Double or blurred vision
- Sudden loss of eyesight or side (peripheral) vision
- Headaches
- Dizziness and fainting
- Pain or numbness in your face
