Lyme Disease Treatments

When identified early, Lyme disease is usually treated easily and successfully with a short course of antibiotics. Other people may require treatment for two to four weeks with oral or intravenous antibiotics.

Lyme disease was only identified in 1982, so more research is required on treatment for chronic Lyme disease. Some studies suggest that Lyme disease may trigger an autoimmune response that prolongs symptoms.
