Symptoms of Vocal Cord Polyps and Nodules

Hoarseness is often the first and most common symptom of a vocal polyp or nodule. If your hoarseness lasts for longer than two to three weeks, see your physician.

Others symptoms may include:

  • A breathy, airy voice
  • A scratchy, gravelly or rough voice
  • Delayed sound or voice cracking when you begin to speak
  • Limited singing range, especially in the higher register
  • Extra effort or force needed to speak or sing
  • Frequent throat clearing
  • Feeling that there’s something stuck in the throat
  • Neck pain from ear to ear
