Message from the Director of the Dermatology Melanoma Clinic

Our dermatology group is focused on early detection of melanoma. This optimizes the chance of a cure. Our team has a wealth of knowledge and experience in diagnosis and treatment of early melanoma. We use the latest technological advancements in our practice. We have expertise in using dermoscopy. This is a handheld tool that allows for improved visualization of microscopic structures in moles. This allows for more accurate and earlier diagnosis of melanoma. Please find below a link for our online dermoscopy course.

We also perform mole mapping. We do this with a digital automated total body mole mapping system with automated lesional registration and tracking for changes. We have experience in using topical treatments such as imiquimod (Aldara) for certain cases of melanoma in situ. We also have experience with molecular diagnostic tools, such as tape-stripping and molecular staging using mRNA expression profiling techniques. Our team’s goal is to provide patients with melanoma, dysplastic nevus syndrome or other atypical moles with the best care and latest diagnostic and treatment options. We do this to get the best outcomes. When patients know they are receiving the best care, this helps relieve their anxiety.
