Northwestern Medicine Testing Locations
Last updated: July 28, 2023
A Northwestern Medicine physician’s order is required for all COVID-19 tests.
With a physician order, you can get a COVID-19 test at a Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care Center.
- You can get a test from 8 am to 4 pm, any day of the week.
- You do not need an appointment.
- Check your local Immediate Care Center location page to confirm the hours of operation.
- We no longer offer drive-thru testing.
If you do not have an order for a COVID-19 test, please do one of the following:
- Contact your Northwestern Medicine physician
- Schedule a virtual visit at a Northwestern Medicine Immediate Care Center
- Order COVID-19 test by logging into your MyNM patient account
- Sign in and choose Health and then COVID-19 Testing.
If you are not sure about your symptoms, use our Symptom Checker to learn about possible causes and where to get care.
Routine Testing
In most cases, we no longer require routine COVID-19 testing before procedures or hospital admission.
If you are being admitted to a Northwestern Medicine hospital, you may need COVID-19 testing if:
- You have symptoms of COVID-19
- You are being admitted to an inpatient Behavioral Health Unit
If you are having a procedure at a Northwestern Medicine facility, you may need COVID-19 testing if:
- You were recently exposed to COVID-19
- You have symptoms of COVID-19
- You are a living donor or patient scheduled for any solid organ transplant, including heart, lung, liver, kidney and pancreas
Your physician may choose to order a COVID-19 test at any time.
