Benefits

Residents are valued members of our team. The following are some of the benefits we offer to both PGY1 and PGY2 residents.

  • Stipend: Paid biweekly; residents may work more shifts at pharmacist pay rate outside of their residency requirement.
  • Vacation: 18 days of paid time off (PTO) and six paid holidays
  • Insurance: Residents will get a comprehensive medical plan, which includes prescription, dental and vision benefits as a regular Northwestern Medicine employee.
  • Parking and transportation: Residents can buy a parking permit at an employee discount rate. Northwestern Medicine also offers public transportation pass purchase using pre-tax income.
  • Workspace: All residents will have their individual desk, personal laptop, desk phone and pager. We will also provide a white coat, business cards and other office supplies.
  • Library access: All residents have no-cost access to Northwestern Galter Health Sciences Library, which grants access to a large collection of medical journals.
  • Extended leaves of absence: We know emergency situations may occur during your residency year. Any resident requiring an extended leave of absence can discuss their circumstances with the residency program director. All decisions are made on a case-by-case basis.
