Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
If Your Baby Is Admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
If your newborn is admitted to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) following delivery, your nurse will work with the NICU staff to arrange for you to visit the baby before your transfer to the Postpartum Unit. If you wish to breastfeed, education and equipment about pumping and milk storage will be given to you.
You will have 24-hour access to your newborn in the NICU. You will be provided education about caring for yourself and the newborn throughout your stay. We also have a lounge available for the day of discharge where you can store your belongings, watch television, rest and use the breast pump if your baby will be staying in the NICU past your discharge date.
