If you are overweight or obese, and have been unable to sustain weight loss through nonsurgical treatments, you can be evaluated for and, if appropriate, undergo potentially lifesaving bariatric surgery. In cases of severe obesity, bariatric (weight loss) surgery is the only proven method of achieving long-term weight control.

The program is led by three highly experienced, board-certified surgeons: Alexander Nagle, MD, Eric S. Hungness, MD, and Ezra Teitelbaum, MD. Since 1999, the Bariatric Surgery Program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital has provided care to nearly 5,000 patients. Our staff and clinicians will work closely together to help ensure you receive the highest level of care and help you navigate through the insurance verification process.
