Ligature is a procedure in which a surgical thread is tied around the keloid or skin tag, cutting off the blood supply to the growth. Eventually, the keloid or skin tag will dry up and fall off. Skin tags may be removed through ligation after a week or two. Keloids may take much longer, with new thread tied around the keloid every two to three weeks.
