Laser-Assisted Uvulopalatopharyngoplasty
Laser-assisted uvulopalatopharyngoplasty is a minimally invasive technique for treating snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Excess tissue from the soft palate and uvula are removed with a laser to reduce blockages in the throat and eliminate the vibration associated with snoring. In some cases, the tonsils and adenoids may also be removed, along with excessive throat tissue.
The procedure can be performed in a physician’s office with local anesthetic. Repeated treatments may be necessary to fully shrink the tissue.
The benefits of laser assistance in uvulopalatopharyngoplasty are:
- Extreme precision
- Faster healing
- Less post-operative pain
