Implantable Hearing Aids
Implantable hearing aids help increase sound vibration transmission into the inner ear for people with hearing loss that can’t be corrected surgically. Options for implantable devices include:
- Bone-conduction hearing devices: These implanted devices are attached to the bones of the middle ear in such a way that they vibrate the bones to increase sound vibrations.
- Osseointegrated devices: A small titanium vibrator is implanted in the skull behind the ear and attached to a microphone and hearing aid worn in the ear.
