What Is a Facelift?
A facelift (rhytidectomy) is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance of the face by removing excess skin and re-contouring the face. It is often performed with a neck lift (platysmaplasty).
During surgery, the skin is separated from the fat and muscle underneath and the fat is redistributed to create a smoother, more youthful appearance. The procedure is generally performed under general anesthesia and may take several hours.
