Solid Organ Transplant Rehabilitation
Solid Organ Transplant Rehabilitation
If you are awaiting or recovering from a transplant surgery, you may remain in the hospital for an indeterminate amount of time. During your stay, you may receive occupational and physical therapy to help develop a plan of care aimed at increasing your independence. Your goals for occupational and physical therapy will be adapted to your functional abilities and medical condition.
Physical therapists will evaluate your mobility and help you use assistive devices for mobility, such as walkers, canes or crutches. In addition, they will develop an exercise program focused on regaining strength and range of motion of affected areas.
You will work with an occupational therapist if you have difficulty performing self-care or activities of daily living. An occupational therapist can also help you learn to use adaptive equipment to increase your independence.
