Specialized services available to pediatric hematology/oncology patients ranging from newborns to young adults at Central DuPage Hospital include: chemotherapy, radiation therapy, transfusions, coagulation replacement therapy and minimally invasive surgery. Should hospitalization be necessary, patients benefit from the 24-hour onsite coverage provided by Lurie Children’s hospitalists and critical care specialists in the PICU and Pediatric Units at Central DuPage Hospital.

The Northwestern Medicine Proton Center in Warrenville, Illinois offers outpatient clinics and advanced care using proton therapy which is a less invasive form of radiation therapy appropriate for certain pediatric cancers. Patients from all over the United States and many other countries are treated at this state-of-the-art facility that provides a unique therapeutic option for patients with brain and spine tumors.

Neuro-oncology patients benefit from rehabilitation locally at the Northwestern Medicine Marianjoy Rehabilitation Hospital. During treatment, families may choose to enjoy the comfortable and supportive environment of the Ronald McDonald House near Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital.

Research

Our Hematology/Oncology Program at Central DuPage Hospital is a member of the Children's Oncology Group (COG), an international group conducting pediatric oncology clinical trials. This allows our patients access to the latest clinical trials and therapies.

Our team is also affiliated with Lurie Children’s Research Institute, a leader in many groundbreaking clinical studies, basic science investigations, and translational research using a bench-to-bedside approach. Patients have access to groundbreaking clinical trials and innovative treatments that are available only at a limited number of research centers nationally.
