Overview
Posterior Tibialis Tendon Rupture
The posterior tibialis tendon attaches the calf muscle to the inside bones of the foot. Posterior tibialis tendon rupture occurs in adults who have flatfoot and the tension in the posterior tibialis tendon is excessive, meaning there is too much force and repetition of movement. Over time, the posterior tibialis tendon, along with supportive ligaments on the inside of the foot, stretches out and tears.
