Treatments for Anterior Ankle Impingement
Nonsurgical treatment like physical therapy can help to improve the range of motion and break down scar tissue in the ankle. However, if nonsurgical treatment is not successful in restoring the full range of motion, ankle arthroscopy is performed.
Ankle arthroscopy is a surgical procedure that uses a very small camera and tools to operate in and around the ankle joint through small incisions. Arthroscopic surgery may have a quicker recovery time than traditional open surgery due to the smaller incisions. During ankle arthroscopy, your surgeon will clean debris from the ankle created by torn cartilage or a bone chip.
