Macular Degeneration Treatments
Treatment for wet AMD may include:
- Injections: Medications injected into the eye can minimize swelling and the growth of blood vessels that can impair vision.
- Laser surgery: A high-energy beam of light is aimed directly at the leaking blood vessels to seal them.
- Low-vision treatments: Certain adaptive devices can help you regain the ability to enjoy daily activities.
Currently, there is no treatment for dry AMD, but a diet high in antioxidants has shown promise in delaying the progression of the disease. Supplements of vitamins and minerals may also help slow the disease.
