Open MRI
Open MRI
Open MRI is a safe, easy, radiation-free procedure that uses a powerful magnetic field to reveal highly detailed images of the bone, ligaments and other tissues. The open MRI technology offers a superior method for detecting abnormalities or injuries to the tissues of the body. Open MRI uses a machine that is open on the sides, to facilitate greater patient comfort.
What Can You Expect?
Open MRI is completely non-invasive. Your session will typically last between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the type of information required by your doctor. No special preparation or diet is required. All that will be asked of you is that you remain motionless during your exam and that you breathe normally. Nothing about the procedure should make you uncomfortable.
How Should You Prepare?
No special medication, diet or fasting is required for your MRI. We would ask that you wear comfortable clothing, preferably with no metal snaps or zippers. If you are pregnant, have a pacemaker, surgical staples or metal implants of any kind, please consult your physician before proceeding with an MRI.
How Long Will Your MRI Take?
We request that you arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment to complete any needed paperwork. The exam itself takes between 30 and 60 minutes.
