Northwestern Medicine EDGe BRCA+ Men’s Clinic
The Northwestern Medicine EDGe BRCA+ Men’s Clinic
BRCA1 and BRCA2 are genes that are passed down through your family. They help prevent tumors. When there are mutations in BRCA1 and BCRA2, they may not work properly. This may putt you at a higher risk for cancer. If your family members have a history of cancer, you are more likely to have one of these mutations.
The Northwestern Medicine EDGe (Early Detection in Genetics) BRCA+ Men’s Clinic is a program that offers genetic testing and follow-up care.
If you have BCRA1 or BCRA2 mutations, our team will schedule one or two cancer screening visits per year. First, you will meet with a genetic counselor. They will explain the program and get your family history. The genetic counselor will also talk about screening recommendations and genetic testing in your family.
Through the clinic, you will connect with specially trained healthcare professionals in:
- Urology (prostate cancer screening)
- High-Risk Breast Center (breast cancer screening)
- Dermatology (skin cancer screening)
- Gastroenterology (pancreatic cancer screening, if indicated)
