Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Therapy
Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Therapy
Your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is the joint where your upper and lower jaw meet. Temporomandibular Disorder (TMD), also known as TMJ syndrome, causes jaw or facial pain accompanied by headaches and stiffness. Most often it is caused by some form of trauma to the jaw, which may come from stress, poor occlusion, missing teeth, poor posture, arthritis, or even subtle clenching or grinding of the teeth.
With symptoms common to many other disorders, TMD is often difficult to diagnose and treat. TMD is one of our specialties. We design TMD treatment to reduce dysfunction and maximize healing of your jaw joint. Our goal is a stable jaw position and improved pain-free function.
Treatment options include:
- Anti-inflammatory therapy
- Joint mobilization
- Postural training
- Therapeutic exercises
