Administrative Fellowship Program

The Administrative Fellowship program is a critical component of our strategic plan goal to “attract and retain top talent in a culture that values innovation, excellence and the highest level of scholarship.” The fellowship is a two-year experience that provides select aspiring healthcare leaders with an unparalleled experience based in either an academic medical center, Northwestern Memorial Hospital, or a community hospital, Northwestern Lake Forest Hospital. Graduates of the Administrative Fellowship program will have developed the skills and attributes necessary to excel as leaders in the healthcare field. Administrative Fellows interact with the management team, medical leadership, and campus partners and are exposed to all aspects of healthcare operations. At the end of the program fellows should have gained an understanding of clinical operations, support services operations, business development, physician relations, hospital finance, community relations, and government relations.

Northwestern Memorial Hospital

As one of the country’s premier academic medical center hospitals, Northwestern Memorial serves as the primary teaching hospital for Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. With Feinberg, we are working to advance Northwestern Medicine®, a shared vision that aligns our strengths and resources to encourage innovation and clinical discovery through a focus on exceptional patient care, breakthrough research, academic excellence and improving the health of the community. The medical staff represents virtually every specialty and is comprised of more than 1,700 affiliated physicians who also serve as faculty members at Feinberg. Physicians are supported by the efforts of more than 6,700 employees who work to achieve quality, patient safety and operational excellence while advancing our mission of Patients First. In U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Hospitals” rankings for 2013-14, Northwestern Memorial ranks No. 6 on the list of best medical centers in the country. We are also named the No. 1 hospital in both Illinois and the Chicago metro area and 14 of our clinical specialties are ranked nationally. We have earned Magnet recognition, the gold standard for nursing excellence and quality care. The Leapfrog Group has named Northwestern Memorial among the national leaders in patient safety and we received an “A” for the Hospital Safety Grade in the group’s first-ever Hospital Safety Score program. Consumers in the eight-county Chicago region have ranked Northwestern Memorial as their “most preferred” hospital in market research for 17 consecutive years. In the same survey, the hospital has earned the “Consumer Choice” award for seven consecutive years for having the best doctors, best nurses, best overall quality and best image and reputation.
