Your First Day at Lake Forest Hospital
When will my first day of employment be?
You will start on a General Orientation Day, which is conducted every other Monday. You will be scheduled for the soonest orientation that you are available to attend following completion of the necessary pre-employment health screens.
How long is the general orientation? General orientation is a full day, usually starting at 8:00 a.m., and lunch is provided by the hospital. Orientation beyond this day will be tailored to your individual needs based on your past experience in the position.
Where do I park on orientation day? On your first day, please choose a spot not too close to the main entrance, leaving the closest spaces for our patients and visitors. Employee parking regulations will be explained during orientation.
What information is covered during general orientation? Hospital policies and procedures, customer service expectations, corporate compliance, safety and security issues, details regarding benefits and a tour of the hospital all compose the first day of orientation for you. You will also be given computer access codes and online education instructions, and your photo will be taken for your ID badge to be created and given to you that day.
What if something happens and I cannot attend orientation? Please call Human Resources at 847.535.6163 to report that you will not be at orientation. You will then be contacted to reschedule your start date for the next orientation in two weeks, as you cannot begin work until you attend orientation.
